I almost missed this little tidbit about the male birth-control pill:
It stops (though we didn’t initially assume so) all ejaculate... by blocking the pump mechanism. Orgasm is not about the fluid but the mental processes that lead and drive ejaculation; these are not changed. I agree than many people love the actual physical sticky outcome –- but we understand that many don’t, not least those who receive infected ejaculates.
This is good for helping with AIDS transmission, and yeah it removes the problem of the wet spot. But god damn, is this a good thing?
For one thing, how would porn movies end? No more pearl necklace, no more snowball. Cum is an important prop in the porn world, akin to Yorick's skull in Hamlet. I'm telling you, this is a disaster.
Also, doesn't this imply that men can now have multiple orgasms easily? I think I spend enough time thinking about sex. When it's over, I think I want it to be over. Not ever having had this ability, I can't say for sure.
Most people (with a frequency inversely proportional to the length of time with their current mate) have nights where they go to bed, have sex, and go to sleep. Imagine a regimen of the male birth-control pill and modafinil. Now you can go to bed, have sex, orgasm without having to stop fucking, and not have to sleep. Nothing signifies an end! How do you know when to stop?
The future is scary.
