For the past couple of weeks, I've been coming in to work, going about my business, and by ten or so I'm always really hot. In my cubicle.
Odd.
So, I would go over to the nearest thermostat, and, lo and behold, it was set to heat to 80 degrees. No wonder. So every day I would set it back down to something reasonable, like 75 or so. But every day it would get set back to 80. Most odd. I assumed the thing was broken, since I was generally the first person in my area to arrive; I considered that it might be wired in to some larger temperature control system, but then, who would set a thermostat to 80 at this time of year? Besides, none of the other thermostats around me were displaying this behavior.
Today, however! I caught the guy that's been doing it! I hadn't considered him as a suspect, because his cubicle is actually quite farm from mine, and from this particular thermostat. I'm almost positive it doesn't even control the vents near him. So I waited until he went away, made sure he couldn't see me, and immediately set it back down again. Because 80 is just ridiculous. So, every morning he sets it higher, I'm going to set it right back down again. My cube is a lot closer, and I hear everyone walking by (due to the particularly poor construction of the building I work in, the floor creaks loudly whenever someone walks by). So, I will win this war, and the people in this end of the building will never again (as long as I work in this cube) have to sit sweltering in their cubes and offices, wondering what on Earth is wrong with the cooling system!!

Can't you and your genius boyfriend come up with something more........more.......evil?
Like a slight zap of electrocution perhaps?

The answer is pretty simple. Open up the front panel and readjust the display to read 80 when it's really set to 75.

I can barely program in Java, I doubt I could reprogram the inner workings of the thermostat. I could use a sticker, though. I know how to use a printer.
